Description   To explore some of the facts related to the Italian Renaissance, the place of Italians in Renaissance England, and the portrayal of Italians at Faire.
Suggested Reading/Viewing (also note any prerequisites)  To explore some of the facts related to the Italian Renaissance, the place of Italians in Renaissance England, and the portrayal of Italian groups within the Faire community. I would like to present a multifaceted lecture/discussion that interweaves a basic review of the Italian Renaissance in Florence with a discussion of why Florentines would be in London/England at all. This conversation would then lead into a presentation about the current Italian guilds, characters, and how we as actors/reenactors fit into the presentation of Renaissance England, ending with an open dialog on cross-country interactions and gig ideas.
